Truck Solar

Truck Solar

Equipping your truck bed with solar panels can already offer many advantages. You can power your cooling system or air conditioning, reducing the need for diesel. For campers, it has even more benefits. The cost of the solar panels can be recouped by using regular 220V equipment in the camper. In the future, it can also partially charge your electric truck. It's high time to consider this.

On the relatively small truck bed of our Renault D, exactly 5 solar panels of 450 Wp each fit. That totals 2250 Wp with a total weight of 120 kg. Lying flat, they are expected to generate approximately 1700 kWh per year. This is sufficient to charge two home batteries totaling 10 kWh (an additional 70 kg). This setup provides enough energy on board for charging an electric scooter, electronic devices, heating, air conditioning, induction cooking, etc. When parked at home, it can also charge the electric car.

We have also created a spoiler from a solar panel. This charges the truck batteries, even when the truck is stationary for longer periods. Additionally, it reduces the workload on the alternator, saving fuel.
